BC's winter weather forecast for 2024-2025 is out and it's going to be a mixed bag
Get ready for a messy season ahead! ❄️

A city in the winter.
Canada's 2024-2025 winter weather forecast is looking like a mixed bag this year, and B.C. is no exception.
Old Farmer’s Almanac released its 2025 Canadian Edition and proclaimed that winter should involve less shovelling this year for certain lucky provinces, but it's not going to be all sunshine.
The winter weather forecast map shows that B.C. is going to be pretty split in terms of weather – with northern B.C. facing mild and wet conditions and southern B.C. getting colder and drier weather.
For southern B.C., the winter is expected to be chilly, with colder than average temperatures and "the coldest periods in early December and early and mid-January," according to the long-range forecast.
Unfortunately, the chilly air doesn't make for a beautiful blanket of fresh snowfall. The Old Farmer's Almanac said that "precipitation in southern B.C. will be below average. Snowfall will also be lighter than expected, with the snowiest periods in late November, early December, early January, early to mid-February, and early March"
Northern B.C. is looking different though, forecasted to have a "relief from super-cold temperatures and above-average precipitation will be possible."
Overall, B.C. is looking a bit messy with the mixed bag of weather in store this year.
The rest of Canada is looking similar, with The Weather Network forecast saying that "there is evidence that the upcoming season could be a hybrid event—not fully a central Pacific-based La Niña event, but not a true eastern Pacific La Niña event either. Therefore, we could see alternating periods that resemble both scenarios."
While the winter might be overall warmer, similar to that of last year, TWN said that it does "not expect that Canada as a whole will rival last winter for the warmest winter on record."
So, bundle up and prepare for a wintry ride!
