This small city in BC was named among the 'most underrated foodie destinations in Canada'

Vancouver has got some competition!

Person eating in a restaurant. Right: Victoria BC.

Someone eating pasta. Right: Someone by a waterfront.

This small waterfront city, nestled among some of the most breathtaking nature that the country has to offer, was dubbed one of the most "underrated foodies destinations" in the country. With a vibrant food scene, brunch-galore, and a focus on local ingredients, this is the spot to be for tasty eats away from the crowds of Canada's bigger spots.

We polled readers on the Narcity Facebook page to find out where the hidden gem culinary destinations are around the country. Our big cities, like Toronto and Vancouver, receive the Michelin stars and lots of attention, but there are many other places where you can find incredible eats. Among them is Victoria — the hub of Vancouver Island and a city known for its flavours.

Victoria is the perfect size, big enough to offer a wide range of choices, but small enough that it's not overwhelmingly crowded.

Need proof that it's food-forward? The city is known as the "brunch capital" of Canada.

It's got seemingly endless spots to choose from on a Sunday morning, whether you're craving a classic pancake stack from Jam Café or a healthier take on the mealtime at Nourish Cafe & Bistro.

The food doesn't stop at brunch, though. The city is bustling with dinner options, many going out of their way to support local farms on the island and using seasonal ingredients.

Take your pick of places, but a go-to here is 10 Acres Bistro, which has four locations to choose from and uses their own seasonal crops from their farm.

Despite not being a well-known food destination on a global scale, many restaurants have taken home prestigious awards.

Ugly Duckling Dining & Provisions has been named one of Canada's top 100 restaurants by OpenTable and has earned a number of other accolades.

Other local favourites include Il Terrazzo Ristorante — a dreamy Italian spot with an old-town courtyard that sets a romantic tone.

The point? The Narcity audience was right — Victoria is definitely a top destination for food lovers.
