In case you forgot, a once chart-topping pop star, Akon, is building a $6-billion smart city in Senegal which will be appropriately named Akon City.

According to Business Insider, the new city will be run entirely on a cryptocurrency called Akoin and the whole aim of the project is to empower the youth of Africa.

Apparently, the singer plans to franchise the city. Therefore, if things go to plan, we might be seeing more of these special smart cities popping up.

According to CheatSheet, construction for this otherworldly place is slated to begin in early 2021.

The singer has affectionately called it "a real-life Wakanda," and said Marvel's Black Panther movie helped make it possible.

Akon announced the project back in 2018 and in 2020 he told the public that he signed a seven-figure check and finalized an agreement with the Senegal government.

The celebrity recently tweeted out a video about the city that was made by CNN.

In that video, you see the renderings of the project and he breaks down what will be included in the remarkable place.

Truly, no words suffice for how wild and futuristic this place looks.
