Kenney Says Alberta Is In A 'New Wave' Of COVID-19 As We Head Into The Long Weekend

Alberta just reported 800 new cases for the second day in a row.

On Thursday, April 1, Premier Jason Kenney provided an Alberta COVID-19 update to the public. 

Kenney said that the province has entered a "significant new wave" of COVID-19 and he reported 875 new cases over the past 24-hours.

"Instead of delivering a message of openness and optimism, I’m here instead with a plea. Please, please follow Alberta’s health and safety guidelines," he begged. 

"In the race between vaccine and variants of COVID-19, the variants are winning," he continued, begging people to only hangout indoors with their households or two close contacts if they live alone. 

He noted that Alberta currently has 8,653 active COVID-19 cases, a concerning 55% increase in the last two weeks.
