Canada's Last Disney Stores Are Closing Next Month & Liquidation Will Begin Within Days

There will be no Disney Stores left in Canada by the end of September. 😢

Managing Editor, Canada

It's happening, Mickey fans. The Disney Store is officially closing its remaining locations in Canada and liquidation will reportedly begin within days.

On the store locator section of the Shop Disney website, the company confirmed that its final three stores will close on or before September 22 of this year.

The remaining three shops are all in the Greater Toronto Area, and are located at CF Toronto Eaton Centre, Scarborough Town Centre and an outlet at Vaughan Mills. Once they've permanently closed, there will be no Canadian Disney Stores left at all.

Last month, the enterprise began shutting down stores across the country, including locations in B.C., Alberta and Manitoba, in addition to almost all stores in Ontario.

A report from Retail Insider says that Disney Store liquidation will begin at the end of August, meaning that sales could begin within days.

The company says it's shifting to focus on its e-commerce business while reducing its brick-and-mortar footprint worldwide.

It's pretty bad news for lovers of Mickey merch, as there isn't a Canadian version of the site right now. It's still possible to buy from Shop Disney online, although Canadians will have to use the U.S. version of the website.

There is some magical news though, as Disney is expanding into Canada in other ways. Earlier this summer, the company confirmed its plans to open a brand new animation studio in Vancouver.
