The Mayor Of Atlanta Says Covid-19 'Hit Home' As She Tests Positive

The Mayor is not currently showing any symptoms.
Contributor

Mayor Keisha Lance Bottoms of Atlanta has tested positive for COVID-19 over the weekend but is showing no signs or symptoms at the moment.

Mayor Bottoms told MSNBC in an interview that she was prompted to get tested again after her husband had been sleeping a lot since Thursday, which she also said was not like him.

COVID-19 has literally hit home. I have had NO symptoms and have tested positive.

The Atlanta Mayor doesn't know where or when she was exposed, but the day before announcing she was positive, she held a press conference with police officials, City Council members, media, and 8-year-old shooting victim Secoriea Turner's family members.

Katleen Toomey, the Georgia Department of Health Commissioner, signed an order last month that requires individuals to quarantine for 14 days if they've come in contact or within six feet of the mayor, or anyone who tests positive, for 15 minutes or more within the past month.

Bottoms will also be required to self-isolate and help health officials pinpoint locations she's been and who she came in contact with for the two days before testing positive. The Health Department order states violation of the order's guidelines could result in a misdemeanor charge.
