Banff & Jasper National Parks Just Ranked Among The Most Peaceful Spots On Earth

They were ranked as having a positive impact on wellbeing and mental health.

Managing Editor, Canada

In a new ranking of the most "mindful" and peaceful national parks in the world, Canada's own Banff National Park came in second place, while Jasper National Park ranked in fourth.

The study, conducted by money.co.uk and shared with Narcity, considered which of the world's national parks could have a positive impact on wellbeing and mental health.

Each park was ranked based on factors like the amount of green space, the number of lakes, the variety of plants and animals, the air pollution levels, the number of visitors and the "mindful activities available," such as hiking and spas.

The only spot to beat Banff National Park was the Swiss National Park in Switzerland. Fiordland National Park in New Zealand took third place, while Goreme National Park in Turkey rounded off the global top five.

Also in the top 15 were Yellowstone National Park in the United States, Kruger National Park in South Africa and Cinque Terre National Park in Italy.

It's not the first time Banff and Jasper have ranked among the world's most beautiful spots; Banff recently beat out some seriously iconic global destinations in a "best places to visit" ranking, while Jasper was named Canada's best national park in 2021.
