The Canada Revenue Agency Is Ramping Up Its Services Ahead Of Tax Time 2021

It say this will be a tax season "unlike any other."💰
Managing Editor, Canada

Ahead of a potentially “complicated” tax season in Canada, the Canada Revenue Agency has confirmed that they’re ramping up multiple services.

In a statement shared on February 1, the federal agency announced that “a number of measures” would be introduced to help taxpayers get the support they may need.

The Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) recognizes that this will be a tax-filing season like no other. Canada Revenue Agency

Per the notice, this includes things like additional agents in CRA call centres, new automated callback services and extended call centre hours.

Leading up to and throughout the tax-filing season, the agency says that phone lines will be open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 9 p.m. local time.

Starting on February 27, Saturday hours will also be extended to 9 a.m. until 5 p.m.

It will be particularly helpful this year, as federal officials have warned that tax season in 2021 is likely to be “incredibly complicated.”

It’s a message backed up by the CRA, who also predict that it will be “a tax-filing season like no other.”

Thankfully, the agency has been sharing tax tips and FAQs prior to April, as well as revealing Canadians’ most common mistakes when it comes to filing.
