The Canadian Security Intelligence Service (CSIS) is hiring communications analysts in Ontario, B.C. and Quebec.

You can earn up to $120,000 a year with these high-paying jobs if you know a foreign language.

Canada's national intelligence and security agency has Foreign Language Communications Analyst jobs open in Toronto, Burnaby and Montreal right now.

Analysts read or listen to foreign language material, determine the relevance and importance, produce translations, and draft reports based on the intelligence value to generate leads for investigations.

So, you must be able to translate one or more foreign languages into English or French and assess and identify communications to provide advice to management.

You'll conduct extensive research and analysis on various subjects like social, economic, geopolitical and ethnocultural, and use your understanding of the language and culture to inform the analysis.

Also, you'll have to use computers and social media for your work as a Communications Analyst.

These CSIS jobs offer a salary from $99,392 to $120,917 a year.

CSIS is looking to hire people who are proficient in any of these languages:

  • Arabic
  • Mandarin
  • Russian
  • Punjabi
  • Urdu
  • Hindi
  • Spanish

To apply for this job, you must be a Canadian citizen.

You need an undergraduate degree from a post-secondary institution that's recognized in Canada.

If you completed a program outside of Canada, you'll have to obtain proof of a Canadian equivalency through a recognized credential assessment service.

Any higher level of education isn't required, but could be recognized as experience.

You must have two years of experience in research, analysis and report writing, which includes using various databases and analyzing information to make recommendations.

It's also required that you have experience:

  • working in a team environment
  • using computer applications and tools, and communications and social media apps
  • using computer systems

Experience in translation or interpretation is an asset, but it's not required.

You must be eligible to receive an Enhanced Top Secret security clearance to work this job.

That process includes a security interview, a polygraph, and a background investigation with credit and financial verifications.

You will be required to successfully complete the Foreign Language Communications Analyst Training Course in Ottawa before you can start working.

Also, you'll have to take written tests to determine your proficiency in a foreign language, as well as in English or French.
