With everyone wondering about a COVID-19 vaccine, Canada is planning for the country's "biggest immunization" and it's possible that the majority of people could be vaccinated by September.

During a press conference on November 27, Justin Trudeau gave an update about the efforts to get vaccines out to Canadians.

He said that the federal government is prepared for large-scale rollouts and "this will be the biggest immunization in the history of the country."

Trudeau also said doctors have noted that if everything goes according to plan, the majority of Canadians should be vaccinated by September 2021.

"We must reach everyone who wants a vaccine no matter where they live," he said.

To help with this process, a national operations centre through the Public Health Agency of Canada is being created with the support of the Canadian Armed Forces.

That includes coordinating logistics and distribution of vaccines, meeting challenges like cold storage, data sharing and reaching Indigenous and rural communities.

The Prime Minister noted that the federal government has already bought freezers to fit the cooling needs of specific vaccines.

"When a vaccine is ready, Canada will be ready," Trudeau said.
