Winter can be a long and brutal affair, but Canadians know how to make the best of it.

Frenchman's Bay in Pickering, Ontario looked like a postcard for peak Canada over the weekend.

Reddit user usfishfinder shared a clip of the afternoon scene on Sunday, January 10.

People can be seen sharing the frozen bay to play hockey, skate around, and even ice fish.

However, the City of Pickering issued a warning on Monday that bodies of water may not be completely frozen, making them dangerous.

Safety signs will be going up at Frenchman’s Bay, Amos Ponds, and local stormwater ponds to indicate potential hazards.

While there is a lot of fun to be had on this frozen bay, Fire Chief John Hagg says, "no ice is safe ice," and that falling into cold water could increase the risk of drowning, even for strong swimmers.

This spot is a favourite among locals, and the City reminds the public that physical distancing should be maintained on Frenchman's Bay so that it can be enjoyed by all.
