If you’re entering Canada via a land border, Health Canada has shared one important tip to help speed up the process upon arrival.

In a new tweet, the federal agency confirmed that land travellers could save time at eligible ports of entry by registering their COVID-19 day-one test kit in advance.

This can be done via phone or online, but is only possible if the land port of entry has a COVID-19 sample collection site.

Following an update to Canada’s travel restrictions earlier this year, all incoming travellers must now take multiple COVID-19 tests to gain entry into the country.

Although residents are legally allowed to return home without proof of a negative COVID-19 test, they could still face hefty fines for non-compliance.
