Watch out, Canada! Health officials have dropped a fresh batch of food recalls — and two of them are linked to a salmonella outbreak that's already sent nine people to hospital.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) has flagged eight new consumer product recalls in the last few weeks, with multiple items linked to an ongoing salmonella outbreak that's sickened dozens of people across the country.

The latest wave includes a massive new salami recall in Canada tied to the outbreak, bringing the total number of affected meat products to more than 70 and expanding the distribution area to now include two more provinces not previously affected.

Other food recalls this month include a popular protein powder sold at Costco, hamburgers, sausages, cheese and more. If you've stocked up on groceries recently — especially on deli meats or frozen foods — it might be time for a double check.

From hidden mould to undeclared allergens, and yes, even salmonella, the list of food recalls in Canada keeps growing. Whether you're making sandwiches for lunch or blending up a protein shake, it's worth seeing if anything in your kitchen made the cut.

Here's everything you need to know about the latest CFIA recalls — including the full list of affected brands, where the items were sold and what to do if you bought one.

Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Recalled product: Vicente Marino Anchovy Fillets in Olive Oil, 80 g / 42 g — lot code 24171, expiry 12/2025

Recall reason: Pcan Inc., doing business as Cucina Fine Foods, is recalling a batch of Vicente Marino-brand anchovy fillets due to high levels of histamine. This chemical can develop in fish when it's improperly stored and may cause symptoms like itching, rash, headache, dizziness or a burning sensation in the mouth. The product was sold in Alberta, B.C., Nova Scotia, Ontario, Quebec and Saskatchewan, and has already been linked to reported reactions. If you have this anchovy product at home, don't eat it — throw it out or return it to the store.

Recall reason: Dovetail Collections is recalling several varieties of Ceder's-brand non-alcoholic beverages due to the presence of mould. While this type of contamination is generally linked to quality and spoilage rather than serious health risks, the affected drinks should not be consumed. These products were stocked nationally and are being pulled from distribution. Retailers are advised to check for the listed lot codes and remove any recalled bottles from inventory.

Sea Horse

Recalled product: Sea Horse Easy Peel Shrimp, 908 g — best before 17/02/2026

Salami

Rea Soppressata Salami Sweet.

Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Recalled product: Rea Soppressata Salami Sweet, variable size — lot code 5050 224

Recall reason: Marini Foods is recalling this variety of Rea brand salami due to possible salmonella contamination. This deli meat, which was sold in Alberta, Ontario and Quebec, is part of an ongoing salmonella outbreak currently being tracked by the Public Health Agency of Canada. This recall comes about a month after the first salami recall in the investigation, and just a few days later, it was followed up by another, much larger salami recall (which you can read about below).

The CFIA warns that even if a product contaminated with salmonella looks or smells fine, it can still make you sick. Symptoms of salmonella poisoning include fever, cramps, diarrhea and nausea, with more serious complications possible in vulnerable individuals.

Cheese

Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese label.

Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese.

Canadian Food Inspection Agency

Recalled product: Natural Pastures Cheese Company Mount Becher Buffalo Medium Cheese, variable size — batch # 854 179

Recall reason: Natural Pastures Cheese Company is recalling a batch of this buffalo cheese due to possible listeria contamination. This update adds another batch to the list after an earlier recall involving the same brand and product for the same reason a few weeks ago.

The affected cheese was stocked in B.C. and Ontario, and it may not show any signs of being spoiled. Listeria can lead to serious illness, especially for pregnant people, older adults and those with weakened immune systems. If you have this cheese at home, don't eat it — check the batch number, then toss it or return it.
