There are government of Canada jobs available for students that pay up to $31 an hour.

You can work in finance, communications, administration, HR, programming, graphic design, and more areas.

Currently, the Office of the Superintendent of Financial Institutions Canada (OSFI) is hiring students to work during the 2025 fall semester.

These jobs are located in Vancouver, Toronto, Ottawa and Montreal.

OSFI is an independent federal agency that oversees federally regulated financial institutions and pension plans.

So, OSFI is looking for students to fill positions in various areas, including:

  • accounting/audit, finance, statistics and economics
  • risk management
  • communications and translation
  • office administration and project management
  • business administration, law, and data analysis
  • political sciences, human resources, and social sciences
  • programming, user interfaces, databases, social media, and graphic design

The salary for these government of Canada student jobs is between $17.75 and $31.69 an hour, depending on your current academic level.

OSFI is offering four-month work terms from September to December, with the possibility of an extension.

You can apply if you're an eligible student with legal status to work in Canada and self-declares as belonging to one or more of these employment equity groups:

  • persons with a disability
  • Indigenous people
  • members of a visible minority
  • women

To be eligible, you must be a full-time student at a recognized post-secondary institution in Canada with a co-op or internship program.

If you are a student with a work/study permit, you can apply, but preference will be given to Canadian citizens and permanent residents.

Also, your work term must be mandatory for graduation, and you must meet the minimum age required in the province of work.

You could be required to work remotely, so you need to have access to the internet in your place of residence.

Students who get hired will be required to obtain a security clearance, which includes fingerprinting.

Students who have lived or worked outside of Canada within the last five years will need an international criminal record check.

The closing date for these student jobs is August 1, 2025, at 11:59 p.m. PT.
