Canadians want action! Recently, Justin Bieber has been using his platform to urge Prime Minister Justin Trudeau to commit to more global COVID-19 funding. The singer is also asking his followers to take action against the ongoing pandemic.

Bieber has teamed up with Global Citizen for their “Global Goal: Unite For Our Future" campaign.

“Canada. We gotta stand up for each other at home and people around the world. Join me and @GlblCtznCAN to help ask @JustinTrudeau to commit to fight coronavirus worldwide with other nations. Take action here,” the 25-year-old tweeted earlier this week.

The singer’s message included a link to a petition asking for Canada to “fund coronavirus tests, treatments and vaccines to mitigate the humanitarian crisis.”

With over 42,000 signatures, the petition is nearly at its goal, but the Stratford native is encouraging his followers to use their voices to ensure it gets there.

Trudeau, Finance Minister Bill Morneau and other cabinet members are responsible for deciding how COVID-19 funds are allocated, and the Canadian star wants to make sure people’s opinions are being heard.

According to Global Citizen’s website, their ongoing campaign “looks to address the disproportionate impact COVID-19 has on marginalized communities — including people of colour, those living in extreme poverty and others facing discrimination.”

“Please work together to urgently develop tests, treatments and vaccines against COVID-19, and ensure they’re available to everyone, everywhere — not just the privileged few,” the site continues.

According to ET Canada, celebrities like Miley Cyrus and Hugh Jackman have also gotten involved, and are using their platforms to spread the word.

Global Citizen has not only been raising awareness about the ongoing pandemic — they’ve also been providing entertainment for those stuck at home.

Several online concerts have taken place over the last few weeks, including performances from Shawn Mendes, Camila Cabello, Celine Dion, Taylor Swift, and Michael Bublé.

Bieber has also been keeping his fans entertained lately with his Facebook series The Biebers on Watch.

Throughout the episodes, the “Yummy” singer and his wife, Hailey, have been opening up about their past relationship and mental health struggles, while giving fans an inside look at their stunning Ontario home.

The “Global Goal: Unite For Our Future” campaign will end on June 27. You can find out more information here.
