This new Lotto 6/49 winner scored a $5 million jackpot.

She found out she had a winning ticket while running an errand at the grocery store and the manager had to be called!

Denise Gauthier and Charles Bisaillon from Estrie, Quebec — about two hours east of Montreal — won the Lotto 6/49 Classic Jackpot from the draw on Saturday, March 8, 2025.

The Lotto 6/49 winning numbers for that draw were 2, 3, 13, 27, 36 and 48.

Gauthier usually forgets her lottery tickets in her purse after buying them.

But this time she quickly checked her ticket while on an errand at the grocery store.

After scanning Gauthier's Lotto 6/49 ticket, the grocery store clerk said, "I can't give you your money."

The store manager had to be called and Gauthier was then told that her ticket won the $5 million jackpot.

Bisaillon, who is Gauthier's partner and a retired construction worker, said she called to tell him the "good news" that they won the lottery.

Bisaillon asked how much the win was, assuming it was only a couple hundred dollars because he never thought they would actually win millions.

The Lotto 6/49 winning couple doesn't have any grand plans for the $5 million jackpot just yet.

Gauthier and Bisaillon said they want to spend more time doing their hobbies, including going places with their dog.

There are two multimillion-dollar jackpots available with each Lotto 6/49 draw.

With the Classic Jackpot, six numbers from one to 49 are drawn and you can win the $5 million jackpot if you match all six winning numbers.

For the Gold Ball Jackpot, each $3 Lotto 6/49 play includes a unique 10-digit Gold Ball draw number.

A winning number is drawn from all selections for each draw. Once a winning number is drawn, a separate Gold Ball Jackpot draw determines the prize — the Gold Ball Jackpot or $1 million.

The Lotto 6/49 Gold Ball Jackpot is from $10 million to $68 million.
