There are new Lotto 6/49 winners who scored $1 million with a ticket bought at the grocery store!
The coworkers thought they only won $1,000 before they saw all the zeros.
It was recently announced that a group of 14 coworkers at a Montreal factory won $1 million in the Lotto 6/49 draw on March 5, 2025.
The winning ticket was purchased at the IGA Extra grocery store in Boisbriand, a suburb of Montreal.
For the Gold Ball draw on March 5, the Lotto 6/49 winning numbers were 74695245-04.
Mario Maltais started this work lottery group 10 years ago. He was at work with coworkers Louis Bourdeau and Jean-Denis Claveau when he checked the ticket on his phone.
Initially, he thought they had only won $1,000 when the prize number popped up on his screen.
"But in the end, there were too many zeros," Maltais said.
Then, Bourdeau, who is the self-proclaimed "new kid on the team," couldn't contain his joy.
"I stood up in the control room with both arms in the air," he said. "It was euphoric, everyone was happy. It was exceptional, really."

After that, the news that they had won $1 million quickly got around to the rest of their coworkers.
"The party started," Maltais said.
Yannick Cambrini, another coworker and co-winner, was in a shop picking out an engagement ring for his fiancée when he got a call from his coworkers that they had won Lotto 6/49.
The winners are splitting the $1 million prize, which means they each get $71,432. Not bad!
When asked what they plan to do with their winnings, they said renovations, travel to Europe and spoil their loved ones.
