The World's Most Honest Places Were Just Ranked & Canada Is Squeaky Clean
Honesty is the best policy, right?
A new ranking of the most honest cities in the world has been released and six Canadian cities made the list.
The study by automotive company Twinner looked at 75 major global cities in order to compare how honest they are in different parts of everyday life, ranking them based on civic honesty, transparency in government, economy and society, the perception of theft, and car dealership reviews.
In the Honest City Index, Ottawa is the highest-ranking Canadian city in 14th place with an overall score of 90.5 out of 100. The nation's capital did the best in the transparency in government, transparency in society and perception of theft categories.
After Ottawa comes Toronto, Vancouver and Calgary in the 19th, 20th, and 21st spots, respectively. Edmonton comes in at the 52nd spot and Montreal is in 54th place.
Canada is no stranger to being named among the best in the world, whether it's about our quality of life or our universities. However, topping the list isn't always a good thing; a recent report revealed that Canadians had the highest stress levels in the world in 2020.
