The best place to be lazy!

Summer in Florida is kicking off to be extra hot and humid this year, and there’s no better way to cool off than dipping your toes in some water. But if you're tired of the beach, hitting up crystal clear springs is a must. Rainbow Springs State Park's lazy river is finally open this week, complete with tubing and cabins for camping. So grab your swimsuit and jump right in, the water’s fine!

Florida state parks were some of the first things to reopen in phase 1 of the state’s reopening plan.

With plenty of precautions in place to keep both guests and staff safe, some of the extra amenities that remained closed during the first phase are now resuming activities as The Sunshine State pushes ahead in phase 2.

Rainbow Springs officially opened its doors again on May 13 with canoeing and kayaking available. On May 21, camping started to open up again, but cabins weren’t available. As of June 9, cabin camping is back in business.

The lazy river, a favorite among locals and tourists alike, allows tubers to float for two hours down the Rainbow River, which eventually joins the Withlacoochee River. Tubing rentals have reopened for the season as of June 1.

Just in time for summer, you can finally return to one of your favorite haunts — enjoy all the tubing, kayaking, and canoeing your little heart desires, then stay the night in a cozy cabin.

As a first-magnitude spring, the water is super clear and stays a refreshing 72 degrees year-round. Legend even says that the springs have healing powers.

You’ll even find gorgeous waterfalls at Rainbow Springs that make the perfect photo-op backdrop — yes, waterfalls in Florida!

Whether you're looking to reconnect with nature or want a place to float for hours, you can soak it all up in the cool, fresh waters of Rainbow Springs.

We strongly advise that before you go swimming or visit any location, you check the most recent updates on potential hazards, security, water quality, and closures. If you do plan to visit a location, respect the environment.
