A much-anticipated new Costco is finally coming to Ontario, and it will open its doors next month.

After months of speculation, the retail giant has officially confirmed the upcoming launch of a new store in Newmarket on its website for August 2025. However, an official date has not been announced yet.

According to Grocery Business, the store will be located on Harry Walker Parkway, just off Highway 404 near Davis Drive. It will anchor a bustling new plaza packed with other retailers, including an H Mart grocery store.

This location is no small build. The warehouse-style store will span roughly 15,500 square metres, making it one of the larger Costcos in the province.

True to form, it'll offer everything from groceries and electronics to appliances, apparel, and seasonal items. You can also expect a pharmacy, food court, and a full-service gas station on-site.

Side note: Narcity recently broke down whether a Costco membership is worth it for the gas savings alone — check out our verdict here.

The new Newmarket store adds to Costco's footprint in the area, joining an existing location just north of town in East Gwillimbury. There are Costco locations over a 30-minute drive from East Gwillumbury in Richmond Hill, Markham and Vaughan.*

The new location is expected to draw a large crowd when it opens, with many eager to take advantage of the bulk savings and membership perks. Costco's July flyer is now available, featuring savings on groceries, household essentials, and health and beauty items — including $10 off Tim Hortons' Original Blend coffee.

Additionally, with H Mart located in the same plaza, shoppers can look forward to a one-stop shopping destination that combines big-box convenience with international grocery finds.

If everything stays on schedule, Newmarket will become the 42nd Costco location in Ontario. It will also be the second new store to open in the province within the past nine months.

Back in November, Brantford welcomed a brand-new warehouse just off Wayne Gretzky Parkway, beside Lynden Park Mall.

The Brantford store features a sprawling layout, complete with 813 parking spots and 24 gas pumps.

It also made headlines as the first Costco in Ontario to introduce an in-store sushi department, giving shoppers the chance to grab fresh sushi rolls while picking up their weekly essentials.
