Craving a European getaway? You don't need a plane ticket or even a passport to feel like you're on a vacation abroad. This Ontario road trip takes you through European-inspired destinations that are brimming with quaint streets and old-world charm.
Destination Ontario has outlined a four-day Southwest Ontario trip on their website, featuring European-inspired towns and dreamy hidden gems.
According to the website, you can "visit rural villages, waterfront communities and vibrant cities bearing the same names as cities from across the Atlantic, with flavours inspired by European history and culture."
The road trip includes dreamy destinations such as Paris, Goderich, Stratford, St. Jacobs, and Elora.
Along the way, you can stop by unique landmarks, historical sites, tea rooms, pubs, Christkindl Markets and more to add the European charm.
Paris, known as the "prettiest town in Canada," is a magical place to spend a day. The riverside town is brimming with old-world charm and is home to quaint shops and cafes.
Goderich has also earned the title of "Canada's prettiest town." It's especially beautiful during the summer months, when you can enjoy its three scenic beaches and sun-filled patios.
If you're travelling during the holiday season, the road trip will take you through some truly enchanting Christmas destinations. You can stop by the Christkindl Market in Waterloo, which will transport you to Germany. Or, head to St. Jacobs for sparkling streets and festive cheer.
Stratford is another destination brimming with European vibes. Located along the Avon River, the area was named after Stratford-upon-Avon in England, the birthplace of William Shakespeare. You'll find quaint buildings and delicious eateries lining the historic streets.
