If waking up to quaint streets and sandy shores sounds like a dream come true, this picturesque Ontario beach town might be your perfect spot to call home. With water views and historic charm, it's a lakeside gem and is one of the province's "most beautiful" places to live.

You could spend your summer days soaking up sun on the shoreline, cooling off with an ice cream cone, and exploring the town's quaint streets.

We asked readers on Facebook to share their thoughts on Ontario's most beautiful places to live, and this dreamy beach town was one of the recommended spots.

Goderich is a postcard-worthy village perched on the shores of Lake Huron. According to its website, it's known as "Canada's prettiest town," and with its shimmering lake views and storybook streets, it's easy to see why.

The octagon-shaped downtown features a range of quaint eateries, cozy restaurants and cute local shops. You can find everything from clothing and home decor to homemade treats and specialty coffees in this charming village.

Goderich's history dates back to the early 1800s, and you'll see beautiful historic architecture and old-world houses scattered throughout the area. Home to just 7,500 residents, it offers peaceful, small-town charm away from the bustle of cities.

One of the town's main highlights is its beaches. Goderich is home to three picturesque beaches where you can go for a swim and wander along the breathtaking shores.

Main Beach offers a sandy stretch of shoreline and views of ships passing by, while St. Christopher's Beach features shaded areas. Rotary Cove Beach has a shallow, sandy entry.

According to the town's website, "Goderich is a growing community and the largest urban community in Huron County" and offers "quality childcare, healthcare, top-notch schools, state-of-the-art recreation, dozens of active community and sporting groups/service clubs, as well as government and community services" and more.

Zolo states that the current median home price in Goderich is $603,867, making it far more affordable than Toronto, which has a median house price of $1,145,390.

If you dream of spending your days enjoying small-town charm and sandy shores, Goderich might be the place for you.
