In a post on Narcity Canada's Facebook page, we asked followers to name the best small towns to live in Canada, and this dreamy Ontario destination was one of the top picks.

Picton is a cozy small town nestled in picturesque Prince Edward County. The area boasts storybook streets, endless charm and dreamy hidden gems, so there's lots to enjoy in the area.

According to The County website, the area is a "unique island-vibe community," offering friendly connections, over 700 kilometres of shoreline, local heritage and year-round events.

Picton's downtown is lined with cute local shops, cozy cafes, and delicious restaurants. Here, you can find everything from books to clothing and more, so you don't need to travel to a city to stock up on the essentials.

You can enjoy performances at The Regent Theatre, shop at the surrounding farm markets and visit the scenic Macaulay Heritage Park.

Prince Edward County is known for its wine scene, and you can find many lush vineyards just a short drive from Picton. Some top spots include Hinterland, Trail Estate, Three Dog Winery and Karlo Estates.

One of the region's highlights is Sandbanks Provincial Park. Located a short drive from Picton, the area is home to three of Canada's "best" sandy beaches and the world's largest bay-mouth barrier dune formation.

You can spend your summer days lounging on the white sand dunes, taking a dip in the sparkling waters and hiking along the scenic trails.

Another spot to visit is Lake on the Mountain, a mysterious body of water without a visible source perched high above the Bay of Quinte.

If old-world charm, quaint streets, white sand beaches, and dreamy vineyards sound like your ideal escape, locals say this enchanting small town is one of the best places to call home.
