It's a slice of summer paradise.

Lead Writer, Travel

This dreamy small town in Ontario is home to not one but six stunning sandy beaches. With quaint streets, powdery shores and coastal vibes, it's a gorgeous spot for a summer vacay.

If you're looking to escape the crowds and enjoy a laid-back getaway, this quaint destination is the place to be.

On Narcity Canada's Facebook page, we asked readers to share their thoughts on the best summer vacation spots in Ontario, and this picturesque town on the shores of Lake Huron was one of the places mentioned.

Port Elgin is a hidden gem, boasting beautiful shores and an endless supply of small-town charm. Located about 3 hours away from Toronto, the beach town is an idyllic summer escape with a peaceful atmosphere, charming downtown, and some of the prettiest sunsets in Ontario.

According to the town's website, the "white sand beaches and our harbour are one of Ontario's best-kept vacation secrets."

The Main Beach stretches for 3 kilometres and features a wheelchair-accessible paved walkway. You can lounge on the powdery, white-sand shores and build sand castles for an idyllic beach escape.

Or, you can head to some of the other, quieter beaches, such as Gobles Grove or Shipley Beach.

In addition to swimming, Port Elgin offers a range of attractions and activities to enjoy.

You can explore the downtown, which is dotted with sun-filled patios, beachy shops and cafes, or head to the farmers' market, where you'll find a range of local goods.

Bring some comfy shoes! Port Elgin is known as "Ontario's hiking heaven" and offers many scenic trails to explore. You can cycle your way around the area or explore on foot.

Nearby, you'll find MacGregor Point Provincial Park, which offers additional trails as well as another beach.

With its six gorgeous beaches, vibrant sunsets and small-town charm, this Ontario destination is a mini summer paradise.
