Ontario's weather forecast calls for cold temperatures, strong winds, ice, snow, and blowing snow.

Winter is making a comeback with up to 10 cm of snow expected for southern parts of the province.

According to The Weather Network, a quick shot of winter weather is hitting Ontario with "blowing snow and frigid temperatures" on Wednesday, March 5 and Thursday, March 6.

After the spring storm bringing rain and milder weather moves out on Wednesday, a temperature drop will change rain to snow.

Strong winds combined with snow will cause blowing snow across southern Ontario and slow travel on Thursday.

Toronto's weather is forecast to be wintry as the wind chill makes it feel like -3 C on Thursday but with less than three cm of snow.

Five cm or less is expected in the GTA and five to 10 cm of snow in places closer to Lake Huron and Georgian Bay.

That includes Barrie, Collingwood, Owen Sound, Sauble Beach, Kincardine, and Goderich.

Overnight temperatures are expected to be below -10 C with the wind chill across southern Ontario on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, according to The Weather Network.

Environment Canada has issued special weather statements for southern Ontario, including Toronto and the GTA.

That's because of cold temperatures, strong winds, ice, snow and blowing snow.

It's expected that "rapidly falling temperatures and a transition to snow" will start in southwestern Ontario on Wednesday night and the GTA and areas north of Lake Ontario on Thursday morning.

This could cause roads and sidewalks to become icy and slippery.

With strong wind gusts, reduced visibility is expected in snow and blowing snow.

"Travel may become hazardous beginning Thursday morning," Environment Canada warned.

The winds and snow will ease in southern Ontario by Thursday evening.
