Ontario's weather could warm to 20 C this week but a blast of cold is on the way first

Will March Break be mostly spring-like? ☀️

Senior Writer

A new forecast has revealed that Ontario's weather is getting a quick shot of freezing temperatures this week.

But it won't last long as a warm up will make temperatures reach 20 C by the weekend!

The Weather Network shared that spring is teasing southern Ontario during March Break with warmer conditions briefly interrupted by winter weather.

On Monday, March 10, temperatures will be near or over 10 C by the late afternoon in most parts of the region.

Areas near the Great Lakes are expected to be colder because of chilly lake breezes.

Then, the warm up gets even warmer on Tuesday, March 11 across Toronto and the GTA.

Temperatures are expected to hit 15 C in most places and areas in southwestern Ontario could even hit 18 C!

With these spring-like temperatures, Tuesday will be the warmest day of the year from Windsor to Toronto.

But winter weather is making a comeback and temperatures will "rapidly drop" below freezing on Tuesday night.

Below-seasonal temperatures will dominate on Wednesday, March 12.

Daytime highs are expected to be near 0 C.

The Weather Network forecast another warm up on Friday and into the weekend as a Colorado low tracks into northern Ontario and brings a warm front across southern Ontario.

Above-seasonal temperatures are expected from Windsor to London to Hamilton to Toronto and even to Ottawa.

Parts of the province will likely reach 20 C this weekend.

That will be the first 20 C temperature in Canada of 2025.

Just because it will be warm doesn't mean it will be sunny though. The forecast is calling for rain showers and potentially some rumbles of thunder this weekend.
