I Tried Ottawa's New Pizza Delivery Club & This Is My Honest Opinion

Is it better than Delissio? 🍕

Staff Writer

Ottawa has a new delivery club called General Assembly Pizza that brings frozen stacks of pizza to your home.

With pies starting at $9, they are much more expensive than other frozen alternatives like Delissio. So is it worth your money?

How does it work?

Stephanie White | Narcity

You can get between four and 10 pizzas sent to your home every four weeks. When ordering, you'll be able to select the flavours you want and the quantity of each.

They ship across Ottawa, including Orleans, Nepean and Kanata, plus nearby areas such as Almonte, Clarence Rockland, Hawkesbury, Kemptville, Renfrew, Smiths Falls and Stittsville.

On the day of your delivery, you'll get sent a tracking link so you can know when it will arrive. But it isn't necessary to be home, as your order comes in an insulated box filled with dry ice to ensure all your food stays cold until you get them into your freezer.

What type of pizzas can you get?

Stephanie White | Narcity

GA Pizza sells thin-crust 10-inch pies that are all individually packaged and can be ready to eat in under six minutes.

There are all the classics you would expect, like Margherita, pepperoni, and cheese. Plus some tasty combinations like Plushroom that is loaded with mushrooms or the intriguing Sweet Heat with hot salami and honey. But if you are vegan or looking for plant-based options, there are options.

My honest opinion

Stephanie White | Narcity

The delivery went flawlessly, and I was impressed by the packaging of the products, which stayed frozen until I could put them into my freezer. I also appreciated how they each came with the cooking instructions on the back.

I tried the pizza of the month, which had better quality ingredients than I'd expect from a frozen meal. The soleggiati tomatoes, feta, and kalamata olives were bursting with flavour.

I cooked mine for the maximum suggested time, but the super-thin crust remained a bit saggy. For the price, I'd rather pay a few dollars more and get a cooked pizza delivered with a thicker crust.

But if you are someone who is desperately searching for vegan or plant-based frozen meals, this food club could be for you.
