After a relatively stable June, Ottawa's COVID-19 cases have bounced back up, and the latest spike in the nation's capital is responsible for a fifth of Ontario's latest count.

According to a tweet from Christine Elliott, Ontario's Minister of Health, out of the day's 203 newly recorded cases, 43 were confirmed in Ottawa.

While the daily numbers had been in the single digits for most of July, the city reported 20 new cases on Monday, as well as 16 on Sunday and 19 on Saturday, according to CTV News.

Ottawa has confirmed 128 new cases within the last week, which is almost as many as there were for the entire month of June when the nation's capital saw 132 cases over 30 days.

According to data from Ottawa Public Health, there has been a total of 2,287 cases in the city, with 1,865 being resolved. In addition, there have been no new COVID-19 deaths in Ottawa since June 25.
