When it comes to rapid testing in Canada, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau called out "newfangled" solutions that circulate online.

During a press conference on October 23, Trudeau was asked about why Canadians should trust that the rapid testing plan is as safe as quarantine.

He said that his government's responsibility is to ensure the safety of all Canadians.

I can understand that people would want to have every newfangled solution that they hear about on the internet available to them.

The Prime Minister said that he understands that people want every single "newfangled solution" they see online available to them quickly.

If you didn't know, that means something that's different from what we're used to.

However, he noted that the work has to be done first to ensure that new medical services or equipment like tests or vaccines are safe when they're distributed.

"Yes, we have to move quickly but every step of the way the safety of Canadians will always be paramount," the Prime Minister said.

Trudeau also mentioned the pilot project that's ready for take-off in Alberta.

WestJet has plans to bring rapid COVID-19 testing to Calgary International Airport that could reduce quarantine from 14 days to just two days.

Trudeau is interested in seeing the results from that and said the data could possibly help the government loosen some international border restrictions.
