The People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) is taking heat on Twitter following a recent post about using animal names as insults.

The organization called for people to stop using animal names as insults, as they claim it perpetuates "speciesism," which is defined as a "misguided belief that one species is more important than another."

Calling someone an animal as an insult reinforces the myth that humans are superior to other animals & justified in violating them. PETA 

PETA offered alternative language to some examples of animal name insults, such as "Chicken" and "Sloth." 

The tweet received much criticism from those who don't believe using the language is a big deal.

While some agreed with the organization's claim.

Some vegans even asked PETA to ease up.
