Here we go again! There's another salmonella outbreak in Canada but this time it's because of dog treats.

The Public Health Agency of Canada has announced an outbreak of salmonella infections happening in B.C.Alberta, and Yukon.

It turns out that people are getting sick because of exposure to pig ear dog treats that are likely the source of this outbreak.

Do not feed your dog any Paws Up! or Western Family brand pig ear dog treats.

Some of the people who were ill said they fed their dog Paws Up! and Western Family brands of pig ear dog treats before they got sick.

The treats are sold at Canadian Tire and Save-On-Foods.

While the products aren't available for purchase in stores anymore, they may still be in people's homes as they were sold nationally.

The Public Health Agency of Canada is warning people to not feed their dogs any Paws Up! or Western Family brand pig ear dog treats.

As of September 29, eight cases of salmonella illness have been reported with five in B.C., two in Alberta and one Yukon.

People got sick between February and August with three of them being hospitalized and one dying.

It's recommended that you wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water after handling any pet food or treats including the ones that are part of the outbreak.
