Netflix’s New Rom-Com Is Totally Relatable If You Know The Single Life All Too Well

Calling all the singletons! A brand new rom-com arrives on the streamer this month and it might just remind you about your all-too-relatable dating life. Seriously Single on Netflix follows a commitment-craving South African woman trying to enjoy her best life while also learning how to be alone.

According to Netflix Media Center, the upcoming flick is set in Johannesburg and "tells the tale of the serial monogamist Dineo (Fulu Mugovhani), as she navigates the modern-day dating world alongside her best friend and partner in crime, the commitment-phobe Noni (Tumi Morake)."

Netflix continues, "When Dineo meets Lunga (Bohang Moeko) who appears to be the man of her dreams, she begins to uncover what she wants in life and love, as Noni unfolds her own story with Max (Yonda Thomas), the bar owner with a heart of gold."

In the recently premiered trailer, a devasted Dineo grapples with the fact that she once again failed at hitting the jackpot with her former boyfriend. 

"He was the love of my life, you know? We were going to get married," she declares.

"You were together for two months," Noni interjects while rolling her eyes. 

Dineo responds, "It was two-and-a-half months, Noni. And you know it."

In comes the film's premise, where a newly single Dineo realizes that she now has some enticing freedom.

However, Noni makes sure to set out some ground rules for her gal pal.

"Three simple rules. Number one, do not give out your real phone number. Two, do not talk about your exes. Three, don't have sex with a guy more than once. Otherwise, it counts as a relationship."

However, in an expected turn of events, a heartbroken Dineo gets told by her BFF, "You're stuck in a fairytale. These guys don't love you. They use you and then throw you away, and you let them." 

Just when she's ready to throw in the towel, ex-boyfriend Lunga pops back in the picture and declares his love for her. 

In comes the big debate you probably know all too well. Should Dineo fling herself back into her ex's arms for fear of being alone forever or be true to herself and her newfound life values?
