Schools are set to reopen in the Sunshine State next month, but Florida teachers have petitioned to stop it.

The Florida Education Association, the state's largest teacher union, sent a petition to Gov. Ron DeSantis, asking him to rescind the order forcing school districts to administer in-person teaching.

The union is arguing that the state is still at "high risk" when it comes to COVID-19 infections, and the time isn't right to send kids back to school.

Florida's teachers ask DeSantis for more "thoughtful leadership" and reverse his course on reopening the schools.

A week ago, the same union filed a lawsuit against the governor to halt the reopenings.
