Tim Hortons announced a new "Canadiana Donut Menu" featuring savoury flavours like a Poutine Donut.

But if you want to order any of these items in Canada, there's a catch you need to know about.

Tims shared that it's "reinventing some of the most iconic and beloved flavours of Canada" with the Canadiana Donut Menu.

Tallis Voakes, the director of culinary innovation at Tim Hortons, said that people have suggested savoury donuts be added to the menu to satisfy their salty cravings.

So, inspiration was taken from a few of Canada's most iconic foods: a lobster roll with fresh lobster from Atlantic Canada, ketchup chips, and poutine.

The Atlantic Lobster Éclair features a yeast donut that's lightly toasted and brushed with brown butter.

It's filled with chunks of fresh Atlantic Canada lobster, topped with lemon sour cream and finished with chives.

The Ketchup Chip Cruller is a classic Tim Hortons Cruller coated with a sweet glaze and ketchup chip seasoning.

The Poutine Donut is a yeast ring donut that's dipped in a savoury gravy fondant and topped with crispy fries and Canadian cheese curds.

If you were thinking of ordering one — or all three — of the Canadiana donuts, you're out of luck.

These iconic Canadian flavours won't actually be on the menu.

"They're 100% Canadian in spirit – and 100% not real," Tims said. "Sorry (not sorry) for the cravings."

It's just an April Fools' Day joke from Tim Hortons.

In 2023, Tim Hortons played an April Fools' prank on Canadians by announcing square Timbits in Birthday Cake, Chocolate Glazed and Coconut flavours.

Tims did a "reverse April Fools' joke" in 2021 and gave out TimBigs after people were disappointed that the coffee chain was only kidding about offering oversized Timbits.

So, it seems like Tim Hortons really loves pranking Canadians on April Fools' Day!
