Although lockdown measures are easing-up in the city, it seems some people can't wait to start clubbing again. Police are investigating a Toronto nightclub after it allegedly hosted an indoor party that had over 100 people in attendance. Goldie nightclub, located at 619 King Street West, is accused of violating the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act (EMCPA.)

“The Toronto Police Service (TPS) would like to make the public aware of an investigation under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act,” reads a statement from TPS.

“On Friday, June 26, 2020, in the evening, officers became aware that Goldie night club, located at 619 King Street West, was operating indoors against the EMCPA,” police explained.

Toronto restaurants are allowed to operate at a limited capacity right now, as long as they have an outdoor patio.

However, according to the police report, the club was caught running its business without a permit for outdoor service, and physical distancing wasn't being enforced.

Toronto police explained that patrons were snuck into through the rear entrance of the club, and adequate social distancing was not being practiced. Between 125-150 people were believed to be inside the business.

The Ontario government announced on June 12 that it would be increasing the maximum number of people permitted in a social circle to 10.

Restaurants are now allowed to host more customers, as long as appropriate health measures are put in place.

The owner of the club will be charged with Failure to Comply with an Order Made During a Declared Emergency.

“This incident was investigated by the Toronto Police Service, and information has been forwarded to the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO),” the police report concluded.

Goldie’s isn’t the only club from Toronto’s nightlife scene to be caught with its pants down this week.

Ruby Soho, a popular bar on King Street, was forced to ban outdoor lines on Monday, after being slammed with customers at the weekend.
