Breaking Ontario's COVID-19 restrictions can be a costly venture, but it could pay off big time for Adam Skelly.

The owner of Adamson Barbecue, arrested last week for reopening indoor dining at his business, could receive over $290K from a GoFundMe fundraiser.

That is, if thousands of petitioners don't stop the transaction from ever taking place.

This is not right, and I am asking GoFundMe to reevaluate what its platform should and should not be used for and to remove this so-called “fundraiser" immediately. Lindsay Fraser

A petition on Change.org is now calling on GoFundMe to "reevaluate" its platform.

The virtual protest, which has over 2,000 signatures, asks the crowdfunding site to deny Skelly the funds.

According to the Toronto Sun, a spokesperson for GoFundMe has confirmed the fundraiser is within their terms of services.

Skelly's arrest made headlines last week, resulting in multiple charges and heavy public backlash.

He was released on bail on Friday after a brief appearance in court.
