Ontario's Tourism Minister Lisa MacLeod says that now is not the time to be discussing Canada's Wonderland's reopening plans.

MacLeod took to Twitter to share her response to Wonderland's announcement that it will be opening for the season in May.

"Our government continues to monitor the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic closely, but it is far too early to speculate on how and when restrictions will be loosened," she wrote.

However, MacLeod said that she will keep working with "large scale attractions across the province to develop a safe reopening plan."

The amusement park's reopening announcement came with some pretty significant caveats.

It plans to introduce several public health protocols for guests to follow, including mandatory temperature screening and reservations to limit capacity.

Each party will also be required to download the Canada's Wonderland app and turn location services on while in the park to receive real-time updates.

Their announcement comes just days after Ontario's stay-at-home order was extended amid rising concerns about new COVID-19 variants.
