Starting July 7, you will officially be required to wear a face-covering or non-medical mask in any public indoor space in Toronto.

City council passed the vote for mandatory face masks in Toronto on June 30 as a temporary bylaw.

We know we are at a critical time in the fight against COVID-19, and that we must do everything we can to avoid the flare-ups that we've seen in other places."

Everyone besides those with "suitable" exceptions and children under two years old will require a mask.

This new bylaw will remain in place until the next city council meeting, scheduled for September 30, 2020. At that point, the order could be extended, reports CBC.

The TTC has also announced that face masks are now required on all transit vehicles.
