A major Netflix film is about to start filming in Toronto and you could be a part of the cast.

Hollywood director Guillermo del Toro's new film Frankenstein is looking for extras to be a part of the production and the casting process is quite simple.

Frankenstein will follow Dr. Pretorious who needs to "track down Frankenstein's monster who is believed to have died in a fire forty years before in order to continue the experiments of Dr. Frankenstein," according to IMDb.

Oscar Isaac will play Victor Frankenstein in the film. The cast also includes Jacob Elordi, Mia Goth, Christoph Waltz, Felix Kammerer, Lars Mikkelsen, David Bradley and Christian Convery.

Some of the cast has already been spotted in Toronto, including del Toro who even shared a photo on his Instagram page of a large ship behind him.

Narcity spoke with the film's casting director, who said the production is looking for various background actors.

Zameret Kleiman, who has been a background casting director for 25 years, says Frankenstein will be filming from March until June 2024 in Toronto and surrounding areas.

"The goal is to try to cast as many people now because there are costume fittings," Kleiman said and added that the casting call will close once they find everyone they need.

As for the extras they're looking for, Kleiman gave us details on the specifics.

The background roles needed include:

  • People who are 25 years old and up with beards or full mustaches and hair that is at least two to three inches long. A "rugged, weathered" look is preferred.
  • Performers who are at least 20 years old to play college students and professors. There is also a hair length requirement of at least two to three inches. Facial hair is preferred, but not required for these roles.

No previous acting experience is required for any of these roles and each one will come with a paycheque.

According to Kleiman, non-union members will be required to work a minimum of eight hours and will receive $16.55 an hour.

Anyone who is a member of the Alliance of Canadian Cinema, Television and Radio Artists (ACTRA) will receive a different hourly rate based on the Independence Production Agreement (IPA).

Kleiman says those performers who are selected to join the film will be required for one to four days of filming.

Anyone interested in applying can find the application link here.

Kleiman says there is no closing date on the casting call and it will close once they find the background actors they need.

So as long as that online link works, the casting call is open!
