One city community is staging a protest after multiple nooses have been spotted around Toronto. For the third time this month, the object was discovered hanging inside an unfinished development project. The noose found in Toronto at Dundas and Sumach is now being investigated as a hate crime.

On Friday, a noose was discovered at a construction site in the Regent Park area.

The site is run by The Daniels Corporation, who Narcity has reached out to for comment.

City Councillor Kristyn Wong-Tam has issued a statement on the issue.

"This despicable act has been reported by the developer to the police and is being investigated as a hate crime," it says, before condemning the other string of incidents that have popped up.

"Anti-Black racism and all other forms of hatred must not find any places to grow in Toronto."

Members of the community rallied through Regent Park in solidarity on Sunday after news of the incident became known. Reps from Daniels Corp. were also present, according to their tweet

"We are disgusted and horrified at this heinous act, which we are treating as a hate crime," Mitchell Cohen, president of Daniels Corporation said to CBC.

Another construction site received the same message just a day before.

On Thursday, The EllisDon and Govan Brown tower at 81 Bay Street also found the same hate crime displayed on site.

Toronto Police are now investigating. However at the moment, they do not have a statement on the matter, they said in an email.

Just weeks before, two workers found nooses at an EllisDon construction site at Michael Garron Hospital. It is still undetermined if the events are connected.

EllisDon has issued a statement in response to nooses found at Michael Garron Hospital, but Narcity is awaiting their comment on 81 Bay Street.

The developer has confirmed that they were "confident" it was racially motivated.

A news release from June 12 says that two nooses at Michael Garron were found "strategically placed and we are confident they were racially motivated, by an individual or individuals, who have yet to be identified. To say we are shocked and disgusted would be an understatement."

Since the hateful image was found, people have left supportive messages at the sites in Regent Park and in East York at Michael Garron.
