You might not have to get a swab stuck up your nose anymore. The Ontario COVID-19 saliva test will be available at three Toronto hospitals this week, says Ford.

In a Wednesday press conference, Doug Ford confirmed that Mount Sinai, Women's College Hospital, and UHN will be the first sites in Ontario to swab your tongue for COVID-19.

Today, I'm thrilled to announce three hospitals in Ontario who have agreed to offer the saliva testing option to patients.

Ford stated that the availability of saliva swabs is something he's "working to expand."

Although the goal is to have the option provincewide, Ontario is waiting for the green light from Health Canada to gain more traction on the venture.

"Once approved, these tests will be game-changers, allowing us to see test results in minutes rather than days," Ford said.

He also noted his frustration with the federal government about approving the new testing method.

"Health Canada, we need your help. I just can’t stress it enough, all I’m hearing is crickets from Health Canada right now on the saliva tests."
