The Registered Nurses Association of Ontario (RNAO) says Ontario's reopening plan is leading nowhere good.

The RNAO released a press release on Saturday criticizing Ontario's current strategy and saying that the province needs to scale back its reopening plans.

The RNAO stated that Ontario is in the third wave and yet is still loosening restrictions. It also mentioned ICUs across the province are "well above" the threshold for operating properly.

"The government's reopening framework is threatening people's lives, the collapse of the province's health system and the closing of schools," their press release said.

In an email to Narcity, a representative for Ontario's Ministry of Health said returning to the coloured zones is not a reopening or return to normal.

"It remains critical for all Ontarians to continue to follow public health measures/advice," they wrote.
