On Friday, Ford's government announced that Peel Region would move into the red, or control zone of the new COVID-19 framework.

This shift mandated indoor dining in restaurants and bars, gyms, fitness classes, and theatres to remain closed.

However, Peel Region has decided that they need even more stringent measures.

The region states that these enhanced restrictions will "continue to limit opportunities for contact and transmission in [their] community."

As of November 13, celebratory gatherings will be prohibited until at least January 7, 2021. That means weddings, birthday parties, engagement celebrations — you get the picture.

Non-essential visitors are no longer allowed at workplaces, and work-from-home options must be offered, if possible.

Peel's Medical Officer of Health also urges residents to restrict close contacts to household members only, or essential supports.

Today, Peel Region recorded 279 new cases of the novel coronavirus.
