Toronto will be colder than the Arctic Circle today, with temps feeling -20 C in some spots

And a chaotic cocktail of weather is still to come. 😬

Toronto will feel like -15 C with wind chill today.

If you thought spring had officially sprung in Toronto, think again. Mother Nature clearly has other plans, including a big ol' slap of Arctic-level cold.

If you woke up today thinking that Toronto's weather feels especially wintry, there's a good reason for it! The city woke up to one of its coldest April days in almost a decade on Tuesday, with The Weather Network (TWN) reporting temperatures of -6 C in the early hours, feeling more like -15 C with the wind chill.

And guess what? It doesn't look like it's going to get much better as the day goes on. The high is only expected to reach -1 C, which would be the coldest daytime high in April since 2016. Ouch.

To add insult to injury, TWN revealed that some parts of Northern Canada — yes, actual places in the Arctic Circle — will be warmer than Toronto on Tuesday. Yellowknife, N.T., is expected to get up to 5 C, and Dawson City in the Yukon is likely to reach a casual 8 C.

Gusty winds (up to 60 km/h) will only worsen conditions here , making the GTA feel closer to -20 C in some areas Tuesday morning. So yeah, dress like it's February.

Meanwhile, road users are urged to remain cautious of slippery road conditions. It comes after the Don Valley Parkway (DVP) was closed for several hours on Tuesday morning following a multi-vehicle collision shortly before 5:30 a.m. No injuries were reported, and the DVP has since reopened, according to CTV News.

The good news? This cold won't last forever. Warmer temperatures are expected to creep back in by Wednesday, though the forecast still calls for a chaotic cocktail of rain and snow later in the week.

So, keep those winter layers within reach, grab your warmest scarf, and mentally prepare to feel your breath in the air — in April. Classic Toronto, eh?
