A new ranking of the best universities has revealed the top institutions in the world for 2025.

Not only is the University of Toronto the best post-secondary school in Canada but it's also "world-leading."

On March 12, 2025, the QS World University Rankings by Subject was released.

It compared over 21,000 academic offerings in 55 subjects and five faculty areas at more than 1,700 universities around the world, including schools in Canada.

These are the areas of study that were analyzed for the new world university ranking:

  • arts and humanities
  • engineering and technology
  • life sciences and medicine
  • natural sciences
  • social sciences and management

Then, subjects in each of those areas of study were also ranked.
