Here's where the celebs dine while they're in Toronto and which spots won't break the bank

$25 for a celeb-endorsed meal is pretty decent!

Toronto is a well-known hotspot for celebs and delicious foods, and quite a few A-listers have dined at restaurants across the city.

Whether they are here for TIFF, filming in the city or GTA or just passing through, big-name Hollywood types like Jessica Alba, Michelle Yeah, Elton John and DJ Khaled have eaten at restaurants in Toronto, with some of them even giving shoutouts about their meals on social media.

So, if you've ever wanted to eat like the celebrities do in Toronto, take a look at the list below at some of the restaurants they've frequented and the dishes they order.

Michelle Yeoh

Michelle Yeoh was in Toronto earlier in 2024 while filming Star Trek: Section 31 and she visited so many yummy restaurants while she was here.

One of the spots she visited on a regular basis was Kiss My Pans, a Singaporean cafe on College.

"Felt kinda surreal having her in our space again and again but yet it felt familiar at the same time," the restaurant said on Instagram. "It was like seeing an old friend because that’s just how she makes others feel. There are always hugs, jokes and warmth."

Kiss My Pans told Narcity that Yeoh ordered the laksa, beef rendang, hor fan, bak kut teh and iced kopi.

"She was very excited to see that we had Kueh Salat and asked if we made it in-house. She also ordered the roasted chicken rice and a tub of sambal to go," they shared.

Their menu isn't available on their website, but recent pictures on Yelp show that the beef rendang costs about $24.

Other restaurants she visited during her stay include Lao Lao Bar, Roselle Desserts and Soos.

Jessica Alba

In 2023, Jessica Alba and Lizzy Mathis were in the city to promote their show Honest Renovations and gave some love to the Indian restaurant Adrak in Yorkville.

They dined on Prawn Tandoori ($45), saying "The spice on this shrimp was amazing," and also ordered the Patrani Macchi ($52), which they said was "the most delicate white fish flavoured to absolute perfection."

Mathis said the Pista Lamb Chops ($80) are the best she's ever had. Adrak is on the pricier side in terms of what your final bill would look like, but it has been featured in the Michelin Guide for 2022 and 2023.

DJ Khaled

DJ Khaled often shares his love for Canada, Toronto and Toronto cuisine, like his shoutout to Chubby's Jamaican Kitchen back in 2020.

Chubby's told Narcity that the musician ordered the Saltfish Fritters ($16), Likkle Jamaican Patties, Curry Goat ($22), Jerk Chicken and Rice and Peas ($7) as well as the Chubby's Signature Mango Hot Sauce to take home.

He's also given love to Sotto Sotto, which is a restaurant beloved by Drake, and Pat's Homestyle Jamaican, where he filmed a video of himself sampling their food.

"Curry goat good here," he said as he showed off his meal, complete with a beef patty and Magnum Peanut Punch. "I feel like I'm at home. I feel like I'm in Miramar."

Unfortunately, Pat's has since closed, but Sotto Sotto is still in business and I dined there myself a few years ago to see what all the fuss was about. For about $150, my partner and I enjoyed a delicious dinner consisting of two appetizers, two mains, one cocktail and one non-alcoholic drink. Not a bad price considering how swanky the restaurant is!

Drew Barrymore

In 2023, Drew Barrymore was spotted at Fat Pasha where she posed with Chef Anthony Rose who said it was a "sweet pleasure" to feed her and her crew.

Individual entrees at the Middle Eastern restaurant range between the $30 to $40 price point, while family meals that feed 4-5 people cost around $140 to $160.

She also stopped by Schmaltz Appetizing, which is in the same location as Fat Pasha and sells sandwiches and bagels that mostly cost $16.00, like the Chub Chub, which is a bagel sandy with smoked whitefish salad, lemon dill gravlax, horseradish cream cheese and dill cukes.

Elton John

Elton John shared some truly lofty praise for an iconic location in the city.

"Every time we come to Toronto, David and I pop into the Senator Diner for the best burger in the world," wrote John on his Instagram. "Thanks for the warm hospitality Allen!"

The burger costs $24 and comes with aged cheddar, bacon, caramelized onions, lettuce, tomato, pickles and a side of fries, which sounds delicious.

Given how complimentary John was of the meal, $24 isn't a bad price at all, particularly if it is indeed the best burger in the world!

Simu Liu

Simu Liu gave recommendations for three spots to eat in Toronto depending on your budget, with Golden Patty being his choice for a cheap meal, particularly the Spicy Patty, which costs under $3.00.

"If you haven't been before, it's going to change your life," he said of the Kensington location.

He also shared some love for the Khao Soi at Pai ($23.00 to $25.00), which consists of fresh egg noodles in a golden coconut milk curry topped with crispy noodles, coriander, green onions and your choice of protein, calling it the "perfect noodle consistency."

And, if you have some money to burn, Liu recommends the lobster and crab towers at Fishman Lobster Clubhouse which will cost you about $699. It isn't cheap, but it certainly looks stunning!

Pai Toronto

Speaking of Pai — it's one of the most beloved celebrity hotspots in all of the city, and most of their entrees are under $25.

Big names like Finn Wolfhard, Alexander Skarsgard, Oscar Issac and more have all dined at the Northern Thai establishment as well as a bunch of the city's professional athletes.

In an interview with Narcity, Pai shared that James Harden always orders the Khao Soi, and that Jason Momoa loves the Pad Gra Prow ($22.25 to $24.25), which J. Cole also enjoys.

So, there you have it — if you want to eat like a celeb you can either try out an entree that won't break the bank, like a dish from Pai, The Senator, Sotto Sotto, Chubby's and Kiss My Pan, or if you're feeling fancy, maybe check out Adrak, Fat Pasha or Fishman Lobster Clubhouse.

Have fun!
