Trump Has Been Impeached For The Second Time In A Historic Vote

He was charged with 'incitement of insurrection.'

The impeachment trial of Donald Trump will now move on to phase two as votes have been counted in the House of Representatives.

The gavel dropped and President Trump was impeached by what is now the most bipartisan impeachment vote in American history after 10 Republicans sided with House Democrats.

232 Votes in favor of impeaching Donald Trump

Once the final votes were counted, Donald Trump became the first president in American history to be impeached twice, as 232 House representatives voted in favor of removing Trump from office for "the incitement of insurrection" during the riots on Capitol Hill.

Just 197 House members voted against.

Trump's first impeachment came in late 2019 after he was accused of abusing his power of office by asking a foreign government to investigate the son of his political rival, Joe Biden.

Just one week before Joe Biden becomes president, the trial will now be passed to the United States Senate, where a 2/3 vote will be needed to remove Trump from office.

If the Senate votes to remove Trump from office, they then have the option of voting to disqualify him from running for office again.
