A lot of people lost their work in the pandemic and now the province is offering a unique way to make a career shift — new health-care jobs in B.C. will bring an estimated 7,000 folks a new employment opportunity.

In a joint press conference on Wednesday, September 9, the provincial government shared its plans for the fall to help protect against COVID-19.

The plan includes spending $44.1 million dollars to hire and train up new health-care support workers in preparation for the fall and winter.

All of the new hires will receive paid training and get on a track that leads to "full qualification as a health care assistant."
