It's no secret that Vancouver is an expensive place to live. For many in the city, rent is top of mind every month.

The Metro Vancouver area is actually home to the top five most expensive cities in Canada to rent in — according to the liv.rent monthly report – with West Vancouver at the top. Vancouver is third on the list (right behind North Van), with an average monthly rental price for an unfurnished one-bedroom of $2,432.

Living in and around Vancouver is going to cost you, but the liv.rent report breaks down the average rent prices in cities near Vancouver – and there is some good news. If you're willing to look outside of the Vancouver core, you can save some serious money on rent every month.

Here's five spots near Vancouver that offer up cheaper rent prices, based on liv.rent data for April 2025.
