One of the 'prettiest small towns in Alberta' has coastal vibes and beaches with velvety sand

Cape Cod or Alberta?

Person by the water. RIght: Chairs by the water.

Cold Lake Alberta. Right: Alberta beach.

This small town in Alberta feels like a coastal getaway, with soft sand, wide open water, and quaint charm. It's the perfect getaway for the summer months if you want to feel like you're in Cape Cod, without actually leaving the province.

Cold Lake is technically a small city in Alberta, but has all the small-town vibes you want from a summer destination. It was just named among the prettiest small towns in Alberta, by Narcity readers, and it's easy to see why.

The lake sparkles under the summer sun, and boats float on the waterfront in the most picture-perfect way.

There's a promenade along the water here so you can stroll around and take in the views.

The main beach — Kinosoo Beach — has velvety sand, a concession stand, a zip line, and volleyball nets. Basically it's all the makings of a fun summer beach day.

The lake is massive, adding to the coastal vibe, and getting out and enjoying it is a must.

Wicked Watersport Rentals is in town and you can rent paddle boards, kayaks, and pedal boats to have some fun on the water. They also have a Party Pontoon Boat you can rent out with friends for a fun day.

The water and beach are the big draws here, but Cold Lake also has cute streets lined with cafes, shops, and restaurants.

Surrounding town you'll find hiking and biking trails, and Cold Lake Provincial Park has a massive trail system you can explore.

If you want a getaway that just screams summer, this is the spot to be.
